KARITA – team leader

Helping children and young people has always been close to my heart. To give even the tiniest drop of goodness into this world. My “CV of Life” would be quite “colourful” written down.

11 years ago, I was diagnosed with brain cancer, glioblastoma gradus IV and I was given from two months to maximum a year to live. It changed a lot in my life. I understood the importance of doing work with real purpose. The type of work your soul yearns for. And that is exactly what I am doing now. I lead wellness retreats all over the world, and combine orphanage projects in those trips. I see first hand how people change there. Us Finnish people! We change! We start thinking more broadly about things, about values and helping others.

Now “Women for Women’s Right for Freedom” is a big dream that is coming true. Let’s pay the goodness forward together!

MAARIT

I love nature, fells and mountains and experiencing the beauty of the Himalayan peaks firsthand is a long dream of mine. I have also hiked in all 41 Finnish national parks.

Besides nature, kindheartedness and helping others are close to my heart. I have been able to combine these in my work as a physiotherapist specialised in severely disabled children and adults with neurological illnesses for the past 30 years. The passion also extends to this charity hike to the Everest Base Camp where I can help the children of the Nepali orphanage whilst hiking in the midst of the breathtaking scenery of the Himalayan mountains, in amazing company. I am very excited and grateful.

VEERA

I moved overseas (London, around the world and then finally settled in Sydney) from Finland 22 years ago for ”something more” - bigger adventures & experiences. It’s been quite a journey in so many ways but the biggest adventure has been one of personal development and getting to know myself. I’ve always been one to look after everyone else but I have recently discovered that looking after others is much easier and more rewarding when your own cup is full first. I love being able to help and impact people with working in health & wellness, through yoga & my writing.

This hike to Base Camp “Women for Women’s Right for Freedom” beautifully combines my passions for adventure, helping others and helping these young Nepalese women towards freedom & better education. I’m grateful for this lovely connection to my homeland doing all this with a gorgeous group of Finns.

KATI,

I love life’s adventures and have attended many yoga and wellness trips with Aventura. On a retreat in Morocco in Autumn 2022 I heard of this great opportunity to join a journey to Everest Basecamp.

With this totally new challenge I will get to know myself on a new level and also meet new people. Beside that we will have the opportunity to help children in Nepal.

KAROLIINA

I am a third-culture-kid who has lived my childhood and youth mainly in the Middle and Far East and in Africa. I also lived in Nepal for 1.5 years in the 90s, mostly in Biratnagar but also for a short time in Kathmandu. From my bedroom window, I looked at the Himalaya range on clear days and thought that one day - now that day is on the calendar. I have always wanted to live my life boldly, I love to adventure, I love new experiences and I love nature. After my husband's serious accident a couple of years ago, I have wanted to listen to my heart's whispers even more carefully. We have the opportunity of living our life’s full potential every single day. Stargazing at night is magical and I hope that at least on a few nights, the Himalayas will part the clouds and reveal the Milky Way in all of its glory - and I will get to see its thousands of stars up close.

As a family, we helped many people while living abroad. Now it's amazing to be able to be a part of an important aidproject for the future of Nepalese girls. I am sure we’ll raise a lot of money through both corporate and private donations, that being something extraordinary what this amazing trekking trip enables!
